A report from our indigenous missionary team in Lofa County of Northwest Liberia

Our 6 indigenous missionary teams are assigned to 12 unreached tribes. The Lofa County missionary team’s main focus, but not exclusively, is the Mandingo tribe. The Joshua Project’s report about this tribe (Joshua project.net) states:

“The population of the Mandingo tribe in Northwest Liberia is about 102,000. They are 99.99% Muslim and .01% Christian. That means there is about 1 Christian for every 10,000 Mandingos. The Mandingo settled in the forested regions hundreds of years ago. When foreign merchants came to Africa, they brought Islam with them. They blended Islam into their traditional religious practices. It is not uncommon for Mandingo Muslims to first pray in the village mosque and then sacrifice a chicken to the spirits. Healing, magic, and divination are important parts of their form of Islam. They consult holy men for healing, protective charms, insight into the future, and put curses on enemies.”

Through the Lofa County team’s sacrifice, faith, obedience and love many Mandingo have received salvation, baptism and churches have started. Here is a testimony and example of their sacrifice and passion in action:

“Last Tuesday, in the Gbandi-Gola Forest region, we had a 3-day fruitful mission going around the region teaching and making disciples for the kingdom of God. On the third day, as we were going back to our base, we discovered that our bike brakes had finished. We were in the middle of the forest on a bad road with several very high steep hills. Not knowing what else to do we just decided to continue our journey. I was driving the bike, without breaks, using my feet as a break. Coming down a very rocky tall hill, as our speed was rapidly increasing, my right foot hit against a big stone and we wreaked. I cried and cried. There was nothing to do. I was the only one able to drive the bike. It was raining and the day was getting old. We were praying for a solution to get out of that forest. Fortunately, as God would have it, another motorbike stopped and asked us what was going on. We told him everything. He told us he was heading to the nearby villages for loads. We pleaded with him to take us to the next town, Kolahum, he agreed. Finally, after much pain and additional problems, we made it back to our base. Our plan is for me to recover and go back.”

On our chat page this is the response of our other indigenous missionaries after reading their testimony:

Prayer points for a great move of the Holy Spirit among the Mandingo:

THANKS FOR STANDING WITH US!! Reaching this tribe requires His Church’s unity. It requires us here and you abroad to be united. Together in our faith, love, obedience and sacrifice thousands of the Mandingo will come to Christ for salvation

Soldiers of the Cross

I’m always sending short clips of the conditions we encounter as we go on mission. What a gauntlet! It can take two days to go 150 miles. Recently the rain flogged us severally. We could no longer drive and had to sit on our bikes in it, until it reduced. As we continued, we saw many trees that had fallen and crossed the road. We know that we will encounter hardship, pain, and suffering. The journey required to reach the mission is of no concern or is there dread, for our eyes are on the destination, the need of those who are lost. Below is a short 3-1/2 minute clip.

208 new coverts from Bomi County:

“God revealed to us and we should start sending teams to the Muslim dominated area called Suehn Mecca District. We ministered to 6,720 people, apart from children, through the Jesus film, trainings and door to door teachings. 109 attended our two- and three-day trainings. On one team visit, of 6 towns, 10 Muslims accepted Christ. They joined the other 198 others from the district who have accepted to be Christian, making it 208. Of the 208, there are two animistic priests. According to them Wordsower is different from the churches and Christians they have been seeing in Liberia. Wordsower doesn’t discriminate when they enter the town, they work with everyone.  They have been watching the team every time they enter. They said they saw the truth in Wordsower as they served and taught. We are praying as we continue to go with more training that they will find a way to unite and worship God.”

“We will not sit, neither rest until everyone everywhere has received the gospel.

Wordsower Sierra Leone we move!!!”

“Praise God, from late last night’s mission, sixteen persons gave their lives to Christ. 15 were baptized. All were former Muslims. Everyone, Everywhere, needs to hear the Gospel. Wordsower Sierra Leone we move!!!”

“Please be with us in prayer. Our team is again being led by our head cook, Mbalu Sesay. She says that she will not stop going on mission until His kingdom comes. Be in prayer with her as she’s very zealous to reach the unreached churchless communities in Bombli district. Go, head cook, Mbalu Sesay!!!”

“The Spirit of God has led us to B-52 town. It was one of the unreached towns in Grand Cape Mount County. No church was there. We are now here to have a meeting with their new church to see how best we can help them with their church roof.”

“Glory be to God for today’s successful meeting. We were able to receive one new person who was a Muslim. He came to our meeting today and told us his desire to become a Christian and we should not delay him to be baptized immediately.”

“Lofa base: The no die, no rest base of no delay, we move!!!”

Praise: Churchless towns of unreached tribes are begging for us to come. There is an avalanche of requests!
Pray: For increased donations so that we may continue to advance into unreached tribes.
Pray: For our indigenous missionary teams, that they will continue to fearlessly, boldly, and sacrificially advance the gospel.
Pray: For us, as we march into and live within the strongholds of Satan to “snatch others from the fire and save them.” Jude 1:23.
Pray: “Finally, our friends, pray for us that the Lord’s message may continue to spread rapidly and be received with honor, just as it was among you. Pray also that God will rescue us from wicked and evil people; for not everyone believes the message.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2.
